Coordination and lifestyle

How many things can a person do at a time? The question being in one word, multitasking. Should I leave guys out of this because of the little myth that they cannot scratch and wince at the same time. Someone whispered that from the front row and now it is everywhere. I just hope to meet a guy who can sip from a water bottle while crossing the streets. Oh, they actually gulp alcohol while crossing the superhighway. Tell you something, college guys can multitask. The one thing I have not been able to do so far is coordinate well and I believe there is a difference between coordination and multitasking. You need good coordination for you to multitask. So the first is basic.
Now, my coordination has been so bad, one time I remember folding my clothes to arrange them in the wardrobe and I dropped them. This happened three times consecutively and I thought I had cause to worry. Worry is good if you are going to do something about a situation but in my case I did not know what to. So the issue of coordination became worse. In search of a solution to my motor movement, which by the way affects also how organized you are, I tried skipping with the hope that I would find serenity in motion. Motor coordination does affect how well you lead your life because it is your brain that signals one part to do this and the other that. It is not something you can cram but obviously it can be learned through conditioning. Of course things you do the most are the ones you can coordinate best.  So if you want to add to the list of things you can do, its a matter of learning. How good your coordination is can tell you the extent of your fears. Most of use become anxious and nervous when we are afraid. Being nervous, will affect your coordination and consequently how organized you are. We also worry when we are afraid and worry is among the few things I know could affect your health adversely.
Now, very simple daily routine things are useful in developing coordination. Playing pool table is one good activity that will not just ease your mind but will also help you develop your coordination. Dr. Benjamin Carson uses the pool table to keep up. Good coordination also makes good dancers. I suppose dancing is another way to improve the same.  Emotional health is another vital aspect to coordination. When you are faced with a situation, sort it immediately. Be very honest with your emotion and do not let yourself clog with feelings or thoughts. For me, updating my Facebook status was the way out sometime back. I had enough space to write and write and express then I ceased and almost got stressed. Literally. It feels good to write honestly where there is an audience and if you are not so bold, it is even better where they cannot see you because you say what you have to. You do not however have to terrorize others with your emotional baggage.

The trust issue

My blog reads 'Trust.' I probably intended it for relationships in length but then there is time to determine its content. Thing is I was very serious about posting relationship advice each day. I even thought I could update twice or thrice in a day. Then I realized how poor I am with relationship advice. I mean, people should get into relationships because they are attracted to each other and they love each other. If you love somebody then communication and commitment will wrap it up together. Love makes people want to work things out right? Then they can cross bridges when they get there. It is a journey. I believe every relationship is unique, one couple does not relate in the exact same way as the other.
Now speaking of relationships, how do you love what you do? That is a relationship too. If you are a pilot or aviation student, you might want to relate well with your plane and trust your plane to work with you. If you are a doctor you have to trust your patient and most importantly trust your own skill to meet your patient's need. The same should be case for engineers and machines, economists and their knowledge. For vocational careers there is an item to trust and knowledge for those in academic careers like myself. I am a student of economics.
The issue of trust is core for whatever relationship you are in, believe it you are always in one or more at any given time. Relationships involve parents, friends, spouses, career and employers among others. So you cannot avoid trust as an issue and you cannot live without it. You have to be trusted by somebody at any point in time in order to work well with that person. Of course being trustworthy in the long run will make your life easier. Now, to gain trust from the other end, you have to offer trust. You trust others in order to be trusted, you have a little faith in someone that they shall not disappoint you. Do not be the kind of person who says "who am I kidding, she/he  cannot be trusted," or "please, that lecturer never gives good marks." For your own sake, have a little faith. Even more importantly, trust yourself that if the other person fails you, there is something to hold on. No one is capable of breaking you when you have faith in yourself and your abilities. It goes without saying that no one can break you to damage if you trust yourself. When you trust yourself, you know who you are and exactly what you can do, you cannot be carried around by waves of whatever situation. If I am an artist who draws, I have to trust my brush in my hand to make good strokes then have faith that the strokes will actually be good. Then trust and faith complement each other in strengthening ones ability to move smooth in life. I do not mean that you won't be disappointed, nothing is as smooth in life but again that is the very thing we work to achieve each day. To make our lives easier, so try to take the most economical path.
All virtue requires one to have faith because they are immaterial. Faith is believing in the immaterial to work in the material. So whether they sound morally streamlining, these virtues are important things in life. Most of it is cliche because it is true and it works for life. Of course we want things to work out for us. It is very important to be real in whatever we do. Trust is therefore fundamental in life in every relationship we have. It is the the way to a free conscience. We need a clean conscience to move forward. It is like walking over a muddy path, your shoes weigh so much they keep you from getting wherever you are headed in good time. They cause friction. At the end of the day we will achieve what we are working for if we incorporate more than just competence. Trust.

Shall we toast to the future?

When we die, another generation shall come,
They shall dig up our bones and call us homo sapiens and homo habilis,
They shall call themselves hom technis and homo civilis
They shall forget that we piled houses one upon the other
They shall forget that we, even we built cities,
O great urban designers,
They shall not remember that the first man was a taxonomist who named the leviathan and the behemoth,
How they shall forget that we harbored knowledge more precious that gold,
That we, whose skulls to them were undeveloped were vessels with wisdom of old,
That we were the species of might renowned,
They shall not remember, their fathers or ancestry,
They forget us, primates of age evolutionary,
They shall refute faith and the believe that we existed like them,
Like us they shall contend and foolishly erase wisdom from the planet,
And so the human race mark times,
Refusing to move forward, because they are home,
We stand at our parties with glasses of champagne,
When what we take is cheap intoxicating liqour,
To ours and our very offspring' s future,
Shall we make a toast to the future?

Your Career is about you.

When I joined college, I did not know what all the fuss about career was. Of course I was aware of the basics, that it would give my life direction and help found my future and that of generations to come. How far my sight was where the term 'future' was mentioned was something like a broad tarmac road with no end. Career talks are very important but for some reason, I was more confused after each one of them than I had sought direction when I began to listen. We could say it is the fact that I was not a serious student or my career instructor was not supportive enough, probably the system where I studied was faulty or the 8-4-4 program is just misplaced. Whatever the reason I believe now that career and motivation are less about the system and those who supports us. Let me make myself clear, I appreciate career guide and the sort of motivation imparted on us by talks and the sort of gatherings we dedicate to our future. Even so, I am for the idea that career paths are mostly about us as individuals. From the outside we only gain motivation when we know exactly who we are and what we want. It is like fuel when we are the actual engines at work. The only difference is, we are not machines, no we do not die off immediately fuel runs out and we can push ourselves up and keep going. Still we cannot work like robots and do all the traditional categories in order to prove our abilities. It is up to us to innately disburse such motivation in the different domains we know. Again I am convinced that such ability is inborn and each one of us has their unique passion. The genius Albert Einstein clearly stated that everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish but its ability to climb a tree it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. We cannot thus be the same yet each individual has the capacity to make a difference in whatever they choose to take up.
I believe in geniuses but I also believe in divinity and the one thing am convinced is that there is no better creation than us (human beings). And yeah I am a creationist. The baseline is we make things happen and it is not things that make us happen. When you decide to take up something in college, you make that thing good. We do not have to take up the almighty sounding courses to prove that we are bright. If you decide to take up one of these, let it be because that is where your passion drives you. If your heart is betrothed to simple lifestyle kind of matters then let yourself go to love and to cherish till death do you part. Whatever you decide to do, give it your all. I believe life is broader than we see and most times we are just myopic, so much so that we fail in perception. It entails everything from what you can give to what you can receive, make sure whatever you offer is of good quality. If you are already somewhere and you feel discontent because you are not where you would have wanted to be I strongly advise you to put greater effort and hard work than beat yourself up because you do not appreciate your field. If you love to do something, keep up the passion and keep complimenting what you do with other activities in your line. Career is important because we cannot live without being occupied. We would not survive the boredom of life. It is just human to want to work. The good news is that it loves you faithfully and pays right back. So do not just be in school because it is protocol and life has put you there so far. Do not be in school because you would otherwise be tilling land or staying home idle. Your career is a priority, it is your bride, your car, your own private jet because it could take you places . It is your wealth, your career is an investment, treat it like a treasure. It is about you.

This is our time

Let us talk school, seems like this will be subject of this blog in this last quarter of the year. And my blog has been most neglected. I am certain we would have arguments over and over if it were alive. Thank God its not, and thank God I have a platform to share my thoughts with audiences every now and then, which are most lengthy and very random. So in all honesty, I would like so much to stand before my classmates and speak my mind out just share my thoughts, but then I am not that bold. Especially this past few days I look at the politicians and think "wow, that is so bold am totally voting for you." There is obviously more than boldness to vote for and eventually we have to choose  candidate anyway. Speaking of voting, I will be voting for non resident student representative today.  That is the very position I would run for if I were political but I am not. Thing is, politics in school, and the sort of dedication to a society this leaders promise to offer, are a challenge. The other thing is, we all, are in college seeking a platform to show the society what we have to offer.
When you decide to take up a career, its because it will benefit you and the people around you. More so, it will develop our country. What we need is the world to know us and the immediate society to acknowledge us, then we can give and keep giving. It is not merely to join clubs in future that we go to school. So that after we have received Mugenda's 'crown' we can walk around so mightily. But we are being nurtured to bring change to our country, to bring technology to our poor people and recipes for our production. We want to live in a good society where we benefit each other. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that we should neglect our self interest, am just saying that we should incorporate that of our society as well. We all owe duties to this country and I wish our parents emphasized patriotism the way they do success. This is how I view politicians, they are artists, and politics is their means of expression. Each one of us has his own unique way of expressing themselves, it is the essence of talent. Some can sing, others dance, some are very gifted designers, writers. All this talent means only one thing, we need motivation, training, among others, but most importantly we need a chance and time. I think this is our time. We cannot all fit in KUSA as politicians but our institution is large enough. It has more opportunities than we know, I believe this is our time. Its a chance life is offering each one of us to succeed, to be known and make a difference in our country. Let us support one another and encourage one another.
